It is time to get ready to join the 19th annual Scarecrow Daze Street Festival!
Scarecrow Daze will be held in downtown, Shelbyville, and is sponsored by the Greater Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce. This year, our Scarecrow Daze theme is "Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree!". We will have a yard competition, games, inflatables, a parade, car show, tractor pull, make it and take it scarecrows, talent contest, vendors, and lots of food. The date for the event is October 9, 10, & 11, 2015. We will be having Scarecrow Daze on the same weekend as the Lake Shelbyville Balloon Fest. There should be lots of people in our town during this great time of year.
All merchandise vendors will be selling on Saturday only, October 10th, from 9 am until 3 pm. We would appreciate it if you would stay for the whole selling time. You may set up between 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM. If you come before that time, there will be no one to help you get to your assigned spot.
Booth space, for merchandise vendors, will be 12 x 12 ft.. The cost for the rental of the 12ft x 12 ft space is $25.00 for art, crafts, direct sales, and farmer's market type vendors. If you need electricity, the cost per space is $30. If you need more room, the cost will double. The booth rental is non-refundable. Please make checks/money orders out to the Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce. You will need to fill out the Vendor Application and Hold Harmless form to participate. Both forms will need to be returned to Brenda Elder, 1936 E. 1265 North Rd, Shelbyville, Il 62565. We will take direct sales on a first come, first serve basis. If we receive more than one application per direct sales company, we will take the first application that we receive. Please have your forms returned by September 12, 2015. You will need to bring your own canopies, electrical cords, power strips, tables, and chairs. If you have extension cords located in high traffic areas, please cover them so that we can minimize accidents.
Informational booths, service organization booths, and non- profit organizations may have booth space free of charge. This includes churches, Humane Society, Lion's Club, Senior Citizens Club, Habitat for Humanity, VFW, American Legion, and other such groups and organizations. You will need to fill out an application and the Hold Harmless forms, however. Please return those to Brenda Elder at the address noted.
We will have a large tent near the courthouse. We will be able to put some vendors into the tent. If you have a canopy we ask that you allow, those that do not have one, to use the tent. Other vendors will be placed in the parking areas on Main Street in front of the local businesses. We will provide a copy of the placement charts closer to the time of the event. We will use all of the parking spaces on Main Street from Washington Street to Broadway Street.
Commercial Food Vendors will be charged $100 for the event. You may set up on Friday evening, if you prefer to. You will need to contact Brenda Elder to set up a time for her to show you to your location. Electrical outlets are limited so we will take the first applications that we receive. Make sure that you mark you electrical needs on the application so that we can schedule you to be somewhere where you will have the electricity and water that you will need. Food Vendors should have their forms returned by September 5, 2015. Please send your Hold Harmless form, Insurance Certification, and Application to Brenda Elder, 1936 E. 1265 North Rd., Shelbyville, Il 62565. You will need to fulfill all Health Department regulations. Please return that form to the Health Department prior to the event. The Health Department usually inspects vendors early on the date of the event.
