Alexander "Alex" Smith 09/02/2010 Alexander P Smith, 91, of Bulpitt passed away on September 1, 2010 at 6:54pm at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born October 11, 1918 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Peter and Grace (Driskell) Smith. He married Lena "Helen" Reid and she preceded him in death. He later married Mary Lou (Hughes) Lawrence May 14, 1989. He worked for Peabody Coal Company for 40 years and was a member of UMWA. After retiring he worked for Smith Security as a security guard at Commonwealth Edison for 8 years.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Lou Smith of Bulpitt, son: Michael (wife Shannon) Lawrence of Kincaid, daughter: Loretta Sue (husband Randy) Ringo of Staunton, grandsons: Branden Lawrence and Cody Ringo, granddaughter: Allison Mathis, great granddaughter Aubree Lawrence, nephew: Pete (wife Donna) Miller of Indiana and adopted daughter: Felicia (husband Kevin) Unser of Kincaid. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen and sister June Miller.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 12:00pm at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home. Burial will be in Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010 from 10am until 12pm in Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.

Wanda I Dodson 09/02/2010 Wanda I Dodson, 88, of Owaneco passed away at 8:12am Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at her residence. She was born February 21, 1922 in Greenwood Township, the daughter of Walter G and Sarah Maude Woodall Hill. On January 31, 1942 she married Byron V Dodson in St Charles, MO and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2002. She was a homemaker and a member of the Owaneco United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons: Byron David Dodson and Gary Lee Dodson both of Owaneco, 7 grandchildren: Jackie Kluthe, Brian Best, Renee Singleton, Christine Norris, Lisa Hayes, BreAnne True and Ashley Brown, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, 2 sisters: Mary (husband Ed) Heberling of Taylorville and Betty Benson of Lakeland, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Shirley Best, 5 brothers: Glenn Hill, Paul Hill, Charles Hill, Bennie Hill, Elmer Hill, 3 sisters: Jessie Avis, Alta Smith, Wilma Lamb and brother in law Bill Dodson.

Bernadine Faye Reeter 09/01/2010 Bernadine Faye Reeter, 84, of Taylorville, passed away at 3:00pm Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Meadow Manor Nursing Home in Taylorville. She was born October 14, 1925 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Frank and Verna Logston Augustine. She married Norville Reeter in March 1961 and he preceded her in death in 1987. She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Vandalia and the Ladies of the Moose Lodge 1516 in Taylorville.
She is survived by her daughters: Geraldine (husband Thomas) Halbrook of Taylorville, Joyce (husband Thomas) Robinson of Waggoner, 8 grandchildren: Denny Arnold, Gary Arnold, Gale Brookens, Stacey Kersey, Melody Hathaway, Terry Wiles, CHris Wiles, Tracey Reemer, 28 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and brother: Clarence Freeman of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Thomas A Hurelbrink 08/31/2010 Thomas A Hurelbrink, 34, of Chenoa, formerly of Mt Auburn lost his corageous battle with brain cancer on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 4:00pm at his residence. He was born on August 4, 1976 in Springfield, IL, the son of Paul and Susan Nesvacil Hurelbrink. He married Brandie Nyberg on September 4, 1999 in SPringfield, IL. He graduated from Taylorville High School Class of 1994. He attended Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where he was a member of TKE fraternity. He was a correctional officer at the Pontiac Correctional Center for 13 years. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, golfing, fishing and watching Dallas Cowboys Football. He was also a member of AFSCME Union, Fraternal Order of Police and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife: Brandie of Chenoa, parents: Paul and Susan Hurelbrink of Mt Auburn, grandmother: Emily Nesvacil of Mt Auburn, mother in law: Colleen White of Mt Auburn, brother in law: Ron (wife Michelle) Nyberg of Georgia, sister in law: McKenzie Cunningham of Mt Auburn, nephew: Damien Cunningham and nieces: Jamin and Annabelle Nyberg and Careyanna Cunningham.

She was born November 25, 1914 in Gillespie, the daughter of Charles and Rachael Bulloch Menzie. On June 18, 1936 she married Joseph A Vedas in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on July 6, 1994. She was a Registered Nurse and had been employed by St Vincents Memorial Hospital and St John's Hospital. She and her husband owned and operated Vedas Greenhouse in Taylorville for 35 years from 1954 to 1989. She was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville, Catholic Daughters of America and the Professional Nurses Association.
She is survived by her sons: Don (wife Marilyn) Vedas of Pekin, Larry (wife Judy) Vedas, of Peoria, AZ, daughter: Arlene Morris of Taylorville, 4 grandchildren: Steve (wife Jill) Vedas, John (wife Mary Ellen) Vedas, Doug Vedas, Michael Vedas, 8 great grandchildren: Jeff Vedas, Laura Vedas, Joshua Vedas, Adam Vedas, Daniel Vedas, Katherine Vedas, Tori Vedas, Erica Vedas and Brother: John Menzie of Gillespie.

Joe Lynn 08/27/2010 Joe Lynn, 86, of rural Stonington passed away August 26, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield. He was born April 21, 1924 the son of J Virgil and Ellice Lynn. He married Mary C Corden on May 6, 1944 in Stonington. He was a grain and livestock farmer for 67 years. He was also president and director of Assumption Mutual Insurance Agency from 1947 to 2010. He also wrote insurance for Prairieland Central Illinois Mutual. He graduated from Stonington High School in 1941 and served as state FFA president and was an American Farmer. He was an agriculture major at the U of I until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He flew 52 missions in Italy and North Africa as a bombadier in a B 24 aircraft during WWII. He organized Brushy Branch Consolidated School District from 6 rural districts and served as the board president from 1946-1951. He also served on the Stonington School Board from 1951-1964. He was Supervisor of May Township from 1948-1984. He served on the Christian County Board from 1948-1978 and served as Chairman for 1 year. He was an active member of Old Stonington Baptist Church for 64 years where he served as church clerk for 25 years, trustee and Sunday School teacher. He was a member and officer of the 376 Heavy Bombardment Group Veteran's Association. He traveled to many states for conventions and made many new friends with this organization. He enjoyed gardening, meeting people, enjoying his family and telling great stories of the past.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Mary, children: Mary Alice (husband John) Bonsoe of Metamora, IL, Barbara Jo Lynn of Normal, IL, Judy (husband Wayne) Swigert of Taylorville, grandchildren: Keri (husband Matt) Lee, Tim (wife Lisa) Bonsoe, Ashley (husband Jesse) Walker, Stephanie (husband Kirk) Kendle and 2 great grandchildren: Allison and Evan Bonsoe. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Carol Stafford.

He was born April 15, 1919 in Winslow, IN., the son of Cleveland & Bessie (Jones) Chesser. He married Moneah Mae Miley on March 1, 1940. She preceded him on January 1, 2010. He was a retired welder at Caterpillar Tractor Co. He was a member of V F W Post #4495 in Taylorville and U A W Local 751 in Decatur.
He is survived by sons Cecil (wife Beverly) Chesser of Taylorville, IL. and Mike (wife Pam) Chesser of Decatur, IL., 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, 1 sister and several nieces & nephews. he was preceded by parents, wife, and 3 brothers.

Edna was a homemaker and also cleaned homes. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid an d Navy Mothers.

He was a retired machinist at Mueller Co and Stonington Fertilizer.

He was born December 4, 1925 in Irving, KY, the son of George Strauther and Leona (Macintosh) Richardson. He married Patricia A Whalen on April 28, 1950 in Decatur. He was founder of Gordon Olds Pontiac GMC in Taylorville since 1963. He retired in 1988. He was a member of Mound Lodge AF&AM #122 of Taylorville, Ansar Shrine, Christian County Shrine Club (Past President), VFW Post #4495 in Taylorville, Taylorville Chamber of Commerce (past president) and First United Methodist Church. He was an US Army Veteren served during WWII 1944-1946 where he earned a Purple Heart. He especially enjoyed spending time with His family and was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and playing golf.

She enjoyed quilting and crocheting blankets that were donated to the missions of the church, an avid crappie fisherwoman and she enjoyed spending time with her pets. She was a member of Rochester Christian Church and was Block Captain of the neighborhood watch of Tovey. She was the Former Village Clerk for Tovey and had worked for State of Illinois Department of Family Services.

He was one of the founding members of the Taylorville Junior Football League, Red Bland Little League Coach, Christian County Board Member for several years, Taylorville Park Board Trustee for several years. He was a loyal Chicago Cub fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildrens sporting events and listening to Big Band Music.

She was born March 24, 1932, in Breese, IL, the daughter of Henrietta (Ess) and Lawrence Schulte. She married Louis Merano on January 16, 1954 in Kincaid. She attended and graduated from Kincaid Public Schools elementary school to high school. She was employed as a seamstress at the Cardinal Products in Kincaid and Rothley's in Taylorville. She attended St Ritas Catholic Church and was a member of Rosary and Alter Society. Also she was a volunteer at the Kincaid Public Library. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, reading and bird watching. She also got great pleasure from playing cards with her sisters. Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother. One thing she truly enjoyed was spending time with her family, especially during the holidays; she made her famous tortaloch dish and baked every kind of cookie imaginable. Playing games was another activity that she liked even though sometimes the competition would get very heated between family members. She was always the mediator between everyone. She will be missed very much by her family.

He also assisted with Baseball and coached the girl's Volleyball team. He was born November 28,k 1926, in Byrdstown, Tennessee, the son of Claude Smith and Leona Pearl Dowdy Huddleston.
He married Rose Boch Huddleston on August 24, 1952, in Palmer, Illinois.
Mr. Huddleston was a retired coal miner and farmer.
He is survived by his spouse, Rose Boch Huddleston; sons Joseph and Kathy (Pusch) Huddleston of Elgin, Illinois; David and Terri (Douglas) Huddleston of Fishers, Indiana; grandchildren Kelsey Huddleston of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Phillip Huddleston of Bloomington, Indiana; Brady Huddleston of Anderson, Indiana; Ryan Huddleston of West Lafayette, Indiana.
He is also survived by a brother, Don and Sharri (Todt) Huddleston of Palmer, Illinois; eleven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 1 daughter, and 1 granddaughter.
He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, Taylorville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran from 1946-47, and loved hunting, fishing, working in his garden, and serving the Lord faithfully.

She was born in Sharpsburg, Illinois, the daughter of Warren Dale and Amy Lulu Hayes Spain. She married Charles Lewis Cormaney on July 26, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was an ordinance assembler during World War II in the Illiopolis defense plant.
She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Ronald and Amy (Rosalie) Schumacher of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchild Christopher Todd Cormaney of Chatham, IL; sister, Catherine Ackerson of Springfield, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-low, Elaine Cormaney of Springfield, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son David.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville. She loved to collect butterflies.

She was born August 26, 1908 in Litchfield, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Brandt. She married Louis Johnson in 1941 at New Louder, MO. He preceded her in death in 1962. She was retired. She worked at Keele's Cleaners, worked in laundry at Golden Manor Nursing Home and Loved to Hand Quilt. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis.

She was a retired Homemaker and worked at the Ammunition Plant in Illiopolis during WWII. She was a member of Peter Meyer Chapter DAR, Christian County Genealogical Society and Sangamon County Genealogical Society.

She was born March 27, 1921 in Mulberry, KS, the daughter of John J and Alberta "Berta" Fritts Foster. On July 25, 1940 she married Robert "Bob" Tex and he preceded her in death on June 22, 1957. She was a stay at home Mom until her last child of six graduated high school. Fulfilling a lifetime dream she then attended cosmetology school and opened a beauty shop in her home which she ran for 11 years.
She is survived by her sons: Robert (wife Ruth) Tex of Taylorville, Michael (Mick" Tec of Owaneco, daughters: Diane (Danny) Gowdy of Owaneco, Doris (husband John) Turner of Pana, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Terry "Smoky" Watson 07/09/2010 Terry "Smoky" Watson, 63, of Taylorville, passed away July 8, 2010 at 3:35pm at his residence. He was born May 8, 1947 in Taylorville, the son of Ivan "Smoky" and Mary Katherine (Bingham)Watson. He married Deidra Ray on October 18, 1964 at Owaneco. They later divorced. He was a retired Coal Miner from Peabody Mine #10 and Freeman United Coal Company after 33 years, he retired in 1999. He was an avid motorcyclist and car buff, he enjoyed building and restoring both motorcycles and Model A cars. He was a member of the 40 mph Club and ABATE. He owned his own shop in Morrisonville, "H-D Rebuilders" for a number of years and built and rode motorcycles all his life.

She was born August 19, 1906 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Pletro Michelle (Peter Michael) Barra and Caterina (Catherine) Mecca-Ferroglia Barra. She was brought to Taylorville as an infant, th the city's coal mining suburb of Hewittville where her father was employed at the then "New Mine", Peabody Mine No. 58. She lived in Taylorville her entire lifetime, for over 103 years. In 1924, she married Antonio "Tony" Podeschi at St Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville, after which she joined her husband in his business, Taylorville Wholesale Grocery Company. She was a homemaker most of her life. She was a lifelong member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville.
She is survived by her daughter: Norma Christine Driscoll of Hinsdale, sons: John Battista (wife Gwen) Podeschi of Taylorville, Peter Michael Podeschi of Taylorville, 10 grandchildren: Peter (wife Colleen) Driscoll of Kenilworth, Mary Driscoll (husband Charles) Ragin of Tucson, AZ, James (wife Alexandra) Driscoll of Willowbrook, Michael Driscoll of Brookfield, Patrice (husband Joseph) Kennedy of Sarasota, FL, Catherine Bilyeu of Sarasota, FL, Paula Hager of Edinburg, Anthony "Tony" Podeschi of Sarasota, FL, Emily Christine Podeschi and Mark Walter Podeschi both of Taylorville. There are numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved sister Christine Barra, husband Tony who preceded her on August 18, 1989, one son: James Anthony Podeschi and one daughter: Barbara Catherine Podeschi, her aunt: Domenica Barra Crusiglia Cargnino, and her sole American cousins: Mary Crusiglia Harmon and Margaret Crusiglia. She also leaves cousins in the Piedmont region of Italy, especially around Monastero do Lanzo, where both of her parents were born. She was proud of her Pledmontese heritage, spoke the language, travelled there and retained family land and family ties there.

He was born in Raymond IL, on May 27, 1935. He married Kathleen Krehl they later divorced. He was a Retired Tire Builder at Firestone Tire Co. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City OK.
He is survived by his Daughters: Sherry Skeith of Edmond OK., Ramona and Husband Jim Foshee of New Salem AL, three Grandchildren, his Brother, Lyle Garmon of Irving IL, Sisters: Martha and Husband Gene Klump of Raymond IL., Wilma and Husband Carl Hallers of Taylor Springs IL, and several Nieces and Nephews. He was Preceded in death by his parents.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Her burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Campbell Hill IL., at 4:30 p.m. Friday June 25, 2010.

Rhodes Health and Rehab Center in Atlanta. She was born September 2, 1920 in Taylorville the daughter of Septimouse and Frences Kain Mitchelson. On June 29, 1943 she married George Russel Hile in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on May 23, 1972.
Mrs Hile was a former employee of Anderson Jewelry and St. Mary's School. She retired in 1983 from Georgia Pacific in Taylorville. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Surviving is her son Marty Hile and wife Julie of Atlanta, GA. There are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday June 23 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Alan Hunter officiation. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the church on Wednesday. The family will receive friends at a gathering at the Round Table at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Ara Lee Pearson 06/22/2010 Ara Lee Pearson, 83, of Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Taylorville, died at 11:15 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2010, at Rosewood Care Center, Peoria, Illinois. She was born May 4, 1927, in Taylorville, the daughter of Frank A. and Lela Fern Logan Ward. On July 27, 1952 she married Elwood Marshall Pearson, Jr. in Taylorville. He preceded her in death of February 12, 1996. Mrs. Pearson graduated from Illinois State University in 1949 with a degree in Education. She taught business classes in Trenton, Mt. Pulaski, and Taylorville Highschool, and later was a substitute teacher for District 150 in Peoria. She retired in 1985. She was a member of Pi Omega Pi and Kappa Delta Epsilon Sorority in I.S.U. and was active with the Methodist Medical Center Service League in Peoria. Mrs. Pearson was also preceded in death by her parents and her twin sisters, Jan and infant Llene Ward.
Surviving are her daughters, Karen Slane, of Peoria; and son, Kevin Marshall Pearson, of Wichita Falls, Texas. Grandchildren are Christine Slane of Llsle, Illinois; Brian M. Pearson of Peoria, Illinois; and Douglas K. Pearson of Centralia, Illinois.
She was of the Methodist faith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 24, at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, with Rev. Richard Smith officiation. Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery. Visitation will be held form 1:00 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home on Thursday. A brief reception at Old Stonington baptist Church will immediately follow the burial.
She will fondly be remembered for always seeing the good in all people and situations, her candy and noodles, her love of entertaining holiday decorating, and especially traveling.

He owned and operated Taylor Trucking and had been employed by Ashland Oil Company.

She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1970 and then graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in elementary education. She then moved to Tempe, AZ and was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. She cared for many abandoned cats in the Tempe, AZ area and loved each and every one of them. She then moved to Normal, IL in 2007 to live with her sister: Brenda Tannahill.

He was an Army Veteran of WWII, member of VFW Post 4495 and American Postal Workers Union. He was an avid bowler and was Past President of the Taylorville Bowler's Association. He had been employed by Dominic Menetti and later owned and operated Nagle's Phillips 66 Service Station. He had also been employed by the Taylorville School District and was retired from the Taylorville Post Office.

She was born September 17, 2010 in Nokomis, the daughter of William and Anna (Neunaber) Schneider. She married John L Tomei on June 17, 1955 at Mt Zion Lutheran Church in rural Nokomis. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1994. She was a retired Secretary having worked at Illinois Bell and J.C. Finance.

She married Mel Forbes on December 18, 1946 at Morrisonville; he preceded her in death on October 22, 2003. She owned and operated her own beauty shop in Morrisonville for many years. Margaret Cleo Hafliger 05/24/2010 Margaret Cleo Hafliger, 96, of Granbury, TX, formerly of Taylorville, IL passed away May 21, 2010 in Granbury Villa Nursing Home in Granbury, TX. She was born September 15, 1912 in Selb Bavaria, Germany, the daughter of Friedrich William and Rosa (Zietler) Kaufmann. She married Arthur Howard Hafliger on August 4, 1934 in Chicago, IL, he preceded her in death. She was retired. She was of the Catholic Faith, attending St Mary's School in the early years. She moved to Taylorville from Germany in 1921, she and her parents stayed with Her paternal aunts: Sisters Chrysostoma and Georgia in St Vincents Hospital in Taylorville for the first several months until they could get situated. She was known to her family as "Camie".
She is survived by her daughter: Rosemary Concotelli of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughter in law: Kay Largent of Moiese, MT, grandchildren: Bill Hafliger, Steve Hafliger, Mike Hafliger, Marty Hafliger, Joe Hafliger, Rick Concotelli, Tony Concotelli, Roseanne Ealy, Nannette Concotelli, sister in law: Mary Lou Hafliger of Taylorville, niece: Georgette Lawrence of Taylorville, and longtime friend and caretaker: Dora Comer. She was born August 29, 1925 at Ishpeming, Michigan the daughter of Albert and Bertha McQuiggan. She married Roy Pounds, he preceded her in death. She then married Dale Warren, he also preceded her in death along with her parents; Son, Doug Pounds; Daughters, Nancy Kevie, Diana Winchester and Louverda Marcus; Grandson, Thomas Pounds, Great granddaughter, Nicci Johnson.
Elizabeth was a CNA working at area nursing homes. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Eagles Club 1425, Red Hats and loved playing cards, bingo and her family.

He was born February 22, 1935 in Effingham County, the son of Victor and Beulah Hutchins Schmidt. He married Maxine Horath in 1956 they later divorced. On July 3, 1970, he married Priscilla Root in Decatur, Il. He was employed by Caterpillar as a mechanic and machinist for 32 years retiring in 1987. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville and United Auto Workers Local 751. He enjoyed music, flying radio control airplanes, coaching youth baseball, and teaching Sunday school at church.

He is survived by his wife, sons: Claude Bell of Taylorville and Ryan (wife Candace) Bell of Moweaqua, daughter Susan (husband Jeff) Good of Stonington, 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, 1 brother, 1 sister,1 uncle, Mother in law and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 10am Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Joy Assembly Church in Stonington with Pastor Tim Moats officiating. Visitation will be held from 5pm until 7pm Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville and from 9am until 10am Wednesday in the Church. Burial will be in the Old Stonington Cemetery.

Arlene Caulk 05/03/2010 W. Arlene Caulk, 76, of Litchfield, formerly of Sorento, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 12:51am at St Francis Hospital in Litchfield. She was born October 16, 1933 at Sorento, the daughter of John and Laura (Wohlert) Plappert. She married Robert L Caulk Sr on December 2, 1950 at Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on APril 30, 2009. She was a homemaker. SHe was active with the Cub Scouts, PTO, and Sorento American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons: Robert L (wife Katie) Caulk Jr of Livermoore, CA, David (wife Carol) Caulk of Greenville, IL, daughters: Dotti (husband Jerry) Taylor ov Morrisonville, IL, Deb (husband David) Massena of Sorento, IL, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Calandra, 85, of Taylorville, formerly of Chicago passed away April 27, 2010 at 11:25pm in Taylorville Care Center. She was born October 29, 1924 in Chicago, the daughter of Roy and Juanita (Miller) Vandenberg. She married William C Calandra on August 4, 1946 in Chicago. She was a retired Saleslady at Mailing Shoe Store in Chicago.
She is survived by her husband: William, son: William James (wife Sandra) Calandra of Chatham, daughter: Donna Ellen (husband Jerry) Sullivan of Posen, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 brother and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers.

She was born October 11, 1922 in Erie County, PA, the daughter of Laverne and Anna Bannister Thornton. She married Rev Kenneth H Conant on November 14, 1942 in Drewfield, FL. He preceded her in death June 16, 1991. She was a retired United Methodist Pastor's Wife. She and her husband served churches in Edinburg, VA, Brush Valley, PA and in Illinois Elwin, Barry, Nokomis, Waverly, Lexington, Victoria, Marshall and Fairview(rural Pana) where she and her husband retired after 40 years of service. In their retirement they lived in Taylorville and later she moved to Pawnee. She spent many years at the Villa Health Care Facility in Sherman and most recently at Pleasant Hill Nursing Home in Girard.
She is survived by sons: Lloyd C Conant of Taylorville, David L (wife Barbara) Conant of Witt, daughter: Deborah S (husband Richard) Willhoit of Springfield, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, step mother: Evelyn Peck, 2 sisters, and 2 daughter in laws.

His parents were Claude and Bessie Montgomery Newberry.
He married Wanda Frost on May 30th 1950 in Piggot, AR. He was preceded by Wanda on April 1, 2009.
He was survived by sons Paul and Wife Jeannette Newberry of Shelbyville, Bill and wife Julitta Newberry of Taylorville, Tom and wife Christine Newberry of Dover, NH; Daughters Judy and Husband Donnie Durbin of Springfield, Linda Hart and Companion Mike Hart of Taylorville, Brenda and Husband Johnny Rever of St. Joseph, MO.
He was survived by 15 grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and one great-great grandaughter.
He was preceded by parents, Son: Charles E. Newberry Jr., Brothers: Orville, Otis, and Coy Newberry, Sisters: Leah Jackson, and Lola Williams.

He was a manager and salesman at various automobile dealerships in the Taylorville area.
He is survived by his mother: Evelyn Stalets of Taylorville, Companion: Roberta Trelz of Taylorville, sons: Trevor (wife Julie) Stalets of Decatur, Tad (wife Mona) Stalets of Riverton, 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers, 1 sister and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

He was an US Veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Taylorville Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge, American Legion and VFW Post #4495 all of Taylorville.

Througout her life she enjoyed working in the food industry including George's Cany Shop and Judy Lynn Candies, as well as a hostess for 10 years at Ray's Place in Taylorville. She was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville and St Aloysius in Springfield.
