Phyllis J. Ludwig, 79, of Mt. Auburn, IL passed away on January 20, 2013 at 4:08 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was born on June 1, 1933 in Pekin, IL the daughter of Samuel P. Lucille (Davis) Ward. She married Edward “Butch” Ludwig in Illiopolis on August 12, 1978. She was retired from Fiat Allis and DeKalb Pfizer Seed Company. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville and the C. D. of A. She loved gardening, cooking and attending he grandson’s school events. She was a loving and caring woman who made the lives of everyone around her more blessed for having known her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Edward “Butch” Ludwig; son, Robert (Heather) Ludwig of Assumption, IL; grandchildren, Zachary, Caleb and Ashton Ludwig; brothers, Samuel (Jane) Ward of Pawnee, IL and John (Jeannie) Ward of Mt. Auburn, IL; nieces, nephews and a close cousin, Thomas “Sammy’ (Joan) Church of Chesterfield, MO. She is preceded by her parents, sister, Shirley Stuart and brother, Harry Ward.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with a Prayer Service at 4:45 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 24, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Berlin, IL.
