National Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Warning thru Monday Morning

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a winter storm warning for the entire Regional Radio listening area, until early Monday morning.

In its statement, the Weather Service said SNOW IS EXPECTED OVER CENTRAL ILLINOIS
TODAY...CONTINUING THROUGH TONIGHT. THERE MAY BE A BRIEF BREAK
IN THE SNOW LATER THIS MORNING. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS
ANTICIPATED THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING.

TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 6 TO 9
INCHES OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL...EAST CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST
ILLINOIS.

NORTHEAST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL GUST OCCASIONALLY AS
HIGH AS 30 MPH...BECOMING MORE OF A NORTH TO NORTHWEST DIRECTION
TONIGHT. DUE TO THE HEAVY WET NATURE OF THE SNOW...THERE IS NOT
EXPECTED TO BE ANY BLOWING SNOW DURING THE DAY...BUT SOME MAY
OCCUR TONIGHT AS TEMPERATURES COOL AND THE SNOW BECOMES DRIER.

SNOW COVERED AND HAZARDOUS ROADWAYS WILL BE THE
PRIMARY IMPACTS. ROADS MAY BE SLUSHY AT TIMES ON SUNDAY AS
TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE LOWER TO MID 30S. HOWEVER...AS
TEMPERATURES FALL INTO THE 20S THIS EVENING...THE SLUSH WILL
FREEZE AND CAUSE ADDITIONAL ICY CONDITIONS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR
HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR
OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL
MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS.

Stay tuned to Regional Radio for the latest in weather information.
