Taylorville City Council Hears that Noise at Ahlstrom is still a Problem

The Taylorville City Council met Monday night. Alderman Larry Budd informed the Council that the noise at Ahlstrom’s continues to be a problem:

Again, the problem started when Ahlstrom installed EPA-mandated equipment.


The Taylorville City Council was presented with an ordinance to disconnect the two southern parts of the Evergreen Aviation Property located at 2301 South Spresser from the City. City Clerk Pam Peabody explains the error that was made when the property was annexed into the City:

The Council approved the ordinance on a 7-2 vote.


The Taylorville City Council heard an update in regards to several businesses violating liquor laws by selling alcohol to minors. City Attorney Rocci Romano tells the Council the latest on the situation:

Alderman Earl Walters said that he believes the time of closure should be longer and the fine should be higher.


The Taylorville City Council approved an ordinance to amend the City Code to add Langley Road from Cheney to Broaddus to the Emergency Snow Routes. The Council approved the motions to forward the Police Budget, Water Department Budget, Airport Budget, and Lake Budget to the Finance Committee. The Council also approved motions to allow Police Chief Dave Herpstreith to send one officer to attend Dare Instructor Training and two officers to tactical firearms training classes.

Alderman Ernie Dorchinecz noted post-meeting that plans are underway for the new water plant and with the construction, there will be a water rate increase that will likely begin May 1st.
