With another tragic school shooting Wednesday in Florida, local school districts are looking at their procedures in place for handling an active shooter situation.
Nokomis Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Doerr says his district works frequently with local authorities so that everyone is prepared.
The best way to handle a shooter situation would be to prevent it if possible. Shelbyville Schools Superintendent Denise Bense says they reiterate communication in her district as much as possible.
There have already been 18 school shootings in the United States in 2018. There also was the shooting at Mattoon High School earlier this school year.
