Two fires kept the Taylorville Fire Department busy overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
The first fire occurred at an apartment building on Grand Ave. on the east side of the city. Taylorville Fire Chief Mike Crews says the fire quickly overtook most of the second floor of the building.
Later in the night, the fire department got a call to the Gaslight Motel on the west end of town.
Crews says the blazes do not appear to be connected, but Illinois State Fire Marshals have been called in to investigate the two fires.
