United in Faith Church Youth to 'Scare for a Cause'
Saturday, October 26 2013 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Every Halloween children across the country dress up to trick and treat, or to scare for fun.
However, many children, including here in central Illinois face something much scarier than any ghost or goblin: hunger.
To help local families put food on the table, a group of Pana students, ranging from elementary through college ages, will be hosting a fundraising "Haunted Barn" this Saturday, October 26th, beginning at dusk.
The youth group from the United in Faith Church will be 'Scaring for a Cause," as they will be helping collect food and monetary donations for the Loaves and Fishes food pantry in Pana.
Youth group leader Ed Cross said that,"with over 5,000 people in Christian County facing food insecurity on a daily basis, every bit we can help with counts."
"And while helping others in need, our youth group members are learning an invaluable lesson about being a positive part of our community, while also learning and practicing the Christian value of helping those who need it most," Cross added.
There will be no charge to go through the Haunted Barn, the group however does ask for a free-will offering or a donation of a non-perishable food item. The Haunted Barn will run from dusk until 10:00pm.
The Haunted Barn is located south of Pana. Take Route 51 south, turn right at the Oak Terrace sign, and it will be located at the second house on the left.
