Bears Extend Roach's Contract

The Chicago Bears announced Monday that restricted free agent linebacker Nick Roach has signed his one-year tender offer. Financial terms were not disclosed. Roach started 15 of the 16 games he played in 2009 and established career highs with 82 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He added nine special teams tackles. In 33 games over three seasons, all with the Bears, Roach has 122 tackles.

Mets Pound Cubs 6 - 1

Angel Pagan popped a go-ahead two-run homer during a five-run seventh inning as the Mets downed the Cubs 6-1 in the opener of a four-game series at Citi Field on Monday. Ike Davis had two hits and an RBI in his big league debut for the Mets. Jon Niese struck out seven over five-and-two-thirds in a no-decision. Fernando Nieve picked up the win in relief. Marlon Byrd went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Cubs. John Russell was charged with the loss. Both teams are 5-and-8 on the season. The two teams play the second installment tonight. Carlos Zambrano will be on the bump opposite Mike Pelfrey.

Cavaliers Lead Bulls 2 - 0 With 112 - 102 Win Tuesday

LeBron James scored a game-high 40 points to go along with eight rebounds and eight assists to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 112-102 win over the Chicago Bulls in Game Two of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal series at Quicken Loans Arena on Monday. James went 16-of-23 from the field, and the Cavs shot 56-percent, as a team, in taking a 2-0 series lead. Jamario Moon came off the bench to score 12 points, all three-pointers, in the win. Joakim Noah paced the Bulls with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Derrick Rose added 23 points and eight assists and Luol [[ LOO-all ]] Deng had 20 points, six rebounds and five assists in the loss. The series shifts to the United Center in Chicago for Game Three on Thursday night.
