From touching lives in America's farm industry to human resources and chemical plants to laughter and the shiny white pearls behind the smile, the work of the five newest members of the Lake Land College Distinguished Alumni Society has reached countless community members.

Lake Land will induct the 2010 class on Thursday, April 23. The inductees are Timothy Fedrigon, of Alpharetta, Georgia, from the Class of 1982; Brian L. Hastings, of Mattoon of the Class of 1978; Patrick Kirchhofer, of Peoria, of the Class of 1985; Bub McCullough, of Gays, of the Class of 1988 ; and Julie Thomas, of Effingham, of the Class of 1985.

Today’s Alumni Spotlight is Patrick Bub McCullough. McCullough is the operations manager and program director at WMCI in Mattoon.

McCullough began his college career at Lake Land in pursuit of an art degree. An instructor, Mike Bradd, quickly suggested that he share his unique communication style and humor with the world through radio. He then decided to major in radio/TV.

"Lake Land College instructors encouraged me to learn by doing", said McCullough. "This hands on approach to learning works well in the radio/TV atmosphere and is an educational philosophy that I incorporate in to managing my staff. He originally began his career with WLBH, where he learned the art of program directing and producing/managing a live show. After two years on the air, he was approached by Bayard Walters and asked to join Cromwell Radio Group as part of the flagship crew who started WMCI from the ground up in August 1989.
